0 Medicinal uses of vanadium

Vanadium has recently been discovered as an essential nutrient in human nutrition. Named after the Scandinavian goddess of beauty, vanadium is a trace element, so please don't go out and buy large amounts of it. In small amounts it seems to improve insulin action. Vanadium supplements as ( vanadyl sulphate ), have improved glucose tolerance in animals, inhibited cholesterol and increased bone mineralisation. As a result, vanadyl sulphate is now commonly used by diabetics. Vanadyl sulphate is found in many foods. Its best sources include, buckwheat, parsley, mushrooms, black pepper, dill and shellfish. No deficiency symptoms of vanadium have been noted so far, but a daily intake of 10-60mcg is considered normal. An upper limit was recently set at 1.8mg a day.
